Valley Cranes

Fauna
Graceful, long-legged birds with shimmering white feathers and flowing tail plumes that drift like silk ribbons.

  • Appearance: Tall, elegant birds with snow-white feathers and elongated, ribbon-like tail plumes. A subtle blue sheen marks mature individuals.

  • Behavior: Monogamous; engage in complex courtship dances involving slow, flowing movements and trumpet-like calls. Highly territorial during nesting.

  • Diet: Small fish (Glass Minnows), pond insects, aquatic plants, and fruiting shrubs near water. Rarely, they will steal Cloud Koi eggs.

  • Other Traits: Considered bringers of harmony. If they nest near one's home, it is viewed as a blessing.

  • Behavior: Proud and graceful, these birds mate for life. Their courtship dances are a celebrated sight among Scarfoxes, involving elaborate leaps and slow, flowing movements. They nest in secluded reed beds or along pond banks. Known to be territorial during nesting season.

  • Diet: Omnivorous. They feed on small fish like Glass Minnows, pond insects, water plants, and occasionally Cloud Koi eggs (though this is rare and not preferred). They also peck at fruiting shrubs and fallen blossoms.
