"The Goddess & The Egg"

Out of the many lakes located in the Hidden Garden the one currently in sight could be said to be the one to be most well-hidden, it was quite far from the areas that other Scarfoxes frequented and well into the thick of the forest… but that doesn’t mean that no one knew of its existence as those few who knew of it enjoyed it for it’s beautiful scenery and the gentle and crystal clear water where one could see the critters and other species that lived within the serene lake.

Today, on a scorching summer day we find one of such people that were a fan of this lake, a figure that would normally not be seen by others, but this person enjoyed coming to this place at this time of the year since it was normally around this time that new lives started to hatch from their eggs. Fleur, the goddess of spring, although her season had come and gone, she still quite enjoyed the summer and was currently floating above the lake, her gentle gaze looking down at the crystal-clear waters as she enjoyed in silence the birth of these new lives, watching as egg after egg hatched and the different species started to explore their new and expanded world out of their shells.

The goddess gently levitated over the lake as to make sure to not cause any disturbances in the water that may cause the new critters to panic, moved from one edge of the lake to the other as she looked for any eggs that were hatching when something suddenly caught her eyes, outside of the lake at the edge of it she could see a lone egg that seemed to be having trouble, the egg shook and jumped as whatever that was inside of it tried it’s best to break out with no avail. Curious, the goddess decided to fly over to the egg and decided to inspect it from closer than normal, being that this time the egg was outside of the water.

She waited and waited, hoping to see as this energetic little critter finally was able to break out of it’s shell up until she noticed the egg stopping to move, waiting a couple of seconds more before a sliver of worry came over the goddesses’ mind and she finally decided to pick up the egg.

“Oh dear… what might have happened to you child…?” she wondered aloud as she inspected the egg. And as if having been able to hear the voice that had called out to it, the egg would start to shake again as the critter inside tried to break free. Seeing this, Fleur couldn’t help herself but smile warmly, ‘What a tenacious child.’ She thought to herself, she was warmly surprised by the perseverance and will of this child that as she had been thinking of helping this child to break out she would decide to sit on the ground with the egg in hand.

She would call out to it, encourage it and hold it safe as she could see that the more she did so the stronger the critter inside seemed to get… who knew how much time had passed, could have been seconds or even hours as Fleur had sat there with the egg until she finally noticed the egg shell start to crack in her hands. Anticipation filled the goddess’ eyes as she awaited to see what creature would come out of the egg and as she thought about it she finally heard it, a loud crack could be heard as the egg split apart.

And before she could react her vision would be obscured as whatever had come out of the egg seemed to be hugging her face, a small giggle would escape her as she put down the pieces of the egg to the side and the picked up the little critter, pulling it away from her face and gently holding it between her hands.

“Calm down child, I’m not food neither your mother” She said even though her voice clearly had the proudness and happiness of one seeing their child succeed at something.

In her hands would be a Foamlite Fly… she had seen a couple of these hatch near the lake and some under the water so now she wasn’t quite surprised that this one’s eggs had been outside of the water, the Foamlite fly at hearing Fleur’s words took off the goddess’ hands and began to fly in circles around her head, clearly happy that it had finally made it out and met the one it considered it’s mother.

Fleur herself wasn’t sure if these creatures tend to think of the first thing they see out of their shell as their mother, she wasn’t sure if it was because of that or if because she had been calling out to the little critter as it was trying to hatch but it was clear that this one thought of her as a parent. She didn’t mind at all but she knew she couldn’t take the Foamlite back with herself, it’d be best if this creature stayed here and continued to grow like normal… Even then she couldn’t help herself but look towards the little thing.

She stayed with the little thing, as the Foamlite Fly seemed to enjoy flying around her and interacting with her, she would decide to actually dip into the water for a moment at which the Foamlite followed her. Diving deep into the water of the lake and then coming out in a big playful splash towards Fleur, the goddess who seemed to enjoy this little playtime with this child decided to stay for longer than she had originally planned to continue playing with it. Eventually getting out of the water and looking back at the Foamlite who was already willing to follow her.

“Now now child, I cannot take you back with me…” Some sadness could be heard from Fleur’s voice as she said this, an emotion that the critter seemed to pick up as it flew against her and stood on Fleur’s hand. Causing the goddess to chuckle once more.

“You cannot go back with me… but that doesn’t mean that you won’t be with me… here I can at least do this for you, my child.” Fleur would take the critter into her hands, focusing her powers on the little thing and leaving with it a blessing.

“We may see each other sooner than you think, but In the meantime grow strong and healthy… and may your children also be blessed with your well and perseverance… ‘Andray’” Fleur’s voice would start to become more astral at the end of her sentence, as she gave a name to the Floamlite, leaving it a blessing before she finally disappeared from sight. Leaving ‘Andray’ to fly around the last place where it had seen Fleur before it eventually returned to the lake.
