Delilah looked to her companion as they made their way down the green trails, She guessed they were on some sort of mission to find a clover? Thats what Nova said they were doing at least. Though there hadn’t been much talking for a while, not that she minded.. But.

“Do you know where you are going?” she finally asked the pink fox next to her, who stopped and looked back, though her eyes were firmly shut. Although she lacked a mouth, she could tell the other was smiling at her.

“No.” She answered in a soft, calming voice that radiated from the star that glowed within her chest.

“But, wait, we’ve been walking for hours!” there was a hint of panic in Dililahs voice as she looked around them wildly, turning around on her feet to look back from where they had come.

“So… have you not enjoyed it?” Nova looked up at the hollow fox, her head slowly tilting to the side in confusion.

“No I have its just, NovaIHaveNoIdeaWhereWeAre.” she spoke a bit more frantically this time, calming herself when the other put her hand onto her shoulder gently.

“Relax, you can’t die again, what’s there to be afraid of?” She had a point, its not like food or water was really that vital anymore outside just making oneself feel more comfortable.

They sat in silence for a bit before the anxious woman sighed and slumped her shoulders, turning to where they were walking in the first place. It was kinda nice, she had to admit. The birds and bugs singing back and forth to each other? Plus being here with Nova… they could really mingle when around others, being a hollow and mystic. Nova never once cared, but Delilah saw the looks that she got from others when she hung around her… so she minimized their contact if they weren’t alone.

“Come on.” Nova pulled the other gently to keep walking down the trail, which she was met with very little resistance. Delilah couldn’t tell her no.. she was so sweet and gentle, loving. Seeing her sad or upset. Delilah couldn’t stand it.

“Well, maybe if we find this clover it will give us the luck to make it back in one piece.” Delilah halfway joked, though she would take all the luck she was given.

A soft giggle radiated out of her companion, making the hollow fox smile slowly. “You’re such a worrywort, Delilah.” Nova turned her head back to the other before slowing down to walk beside her. She pressed her side gently into the other, eliciting a bright blue blush from the girl.

“Or maybe we can use the luck to help you gain some courage.” Nova teased as they walked, but Delilah was too caught up in the closeness to even hear what the other had said. If she had a heart, it would have been going absolutely wild at this point. Sometimes being dead had its perks she guessed.

They walked a while more like this, in silence, a bit more calm than before.. But only a little bit. Delilah couldn’t fully shake the thought of how they were going to get back home after all of this. But she guessed they literally had all of time to find where their homes were… might be a bit tired at the end but its not like it would kill them to make such a long journey back.

It was starting to get dark though, so finding that clover was going to get kinda hard here soon.. She could hear the birds change their tune to one another, not as melodic as before by far, but she still found the noise very pleasing.

“Is that?” Nova perked up as she broke away from the other, earning a surprised noise and a stumble as the other fox suddenly lost her side support and warmth. She regained herself after a few moments, not wanting to fall face first into the grass and make an even bigger fool of herself.

When she looked up she saw nova standing at the edge of a massive clover patch, completely undisturbed by other foxes trying to get their own clovers during this time. No wonder they went so far, it hadn’t looked like someone had been here in years, if ever!

“Its so… big.” Delilah looked around as she walked up to the others side, scanning the massive green field before them, this would take a while…

“Whoever finds a four-leaf clover first gets a kiss!” Nova proclaimed loudly before gracefully leaping into the clovers, leaving the other behind in stunned silence.

“W-wait we didn’t agree to that before we left!” Delilah chased after the girl, who was already bent down and looking at the covers below her. There was something.. Almost childlike about it, careful not to disturb too many clovers as she counted their leaves softly to herself. She looked up as the other approached.

“You better start looking.” Her voice was teasing, maybe flirty? “If I find it first you have to muster up the courage to finally kiss me.”

“But… what if i find it then?”

“Well then i kiss you, silly.” Nova looked back down at the clovers, she seemed serious about this. Delilah wasted no time in jumping over to a further spot, getting down on her own knees to look at the clovers.

Its not that she didn’t want a kiss… but the thought of having to actually initiate one? No, she could never.. Not with Nova, she couldn’t… She needed to find that clover for her own emotional health!

It didn’t take long for the sun to begin to set either, the birds finally calming down, making room for the crickets to finally have their turn for their music. It wasn’t until this point that delilah noticed that Nova… glowed.

A soft warm light slowly washed over the clovers, radiating from the star on her chest. She could see a few bugs begin to fly around it, fascinated by it as much as she was at that moment. There was something truly… angelic with her, otherworldly, divine.. Mystical. Maybe thats where the mystics got their name, but none of the others she saw quite compared to the beauty of Nova.

She got lost in her thoughts as she stared at her love with awestruck eyes, relaxing onto her haunches and forgetting about the clovers entirely. She was only broken out of her voluntary trance when Nova finally looked up to her, her eyes open for once as they locked gazes, silent. Delilah could feel her face blush wildly, but couldn’t bear to look away from the other, even when her mind screamed that she was for sure making herself look so stupid just sitting there and staring like she was.

Until, Nova held up a four-leafed clover up for the other to see, silent, knowing. The tranquil moment was shattered as panic washed over Delilah’s face ans she shot to her feet.

“Wait! Hold on! I was distracted!”

All she could hear was Nova giggle ever so sweetly at her, adding to the chorus of crickets that played around them.
