Jem was a bit of a superstar. Okay, that was an understatement. She was THE superstar, and her career had taken off after it had come to light that a Scarfox god had been positively affected by her influence. And while she was enthralled by the chance to see a god in the fabric, she hadn’t really thought it that big of a deal.

She figured that everybody had self confidence issues sometimes. And that those people just needed a little push in the right direction to get back to feeling like their totally authentic self. It had been her trying to be a good person, and it was alarming how much her life had improved after the news came out.

At first it had been hard to really notice. More people had given her compliments, which she was used to. More foxes were sending gifts. Another thing she was very used to. After all, she was an idol, and this kind of behavior was very common in her section of the music industry. She was selling a lifestyle. A fantasy. And she was incredible at it with a beautiful singing voice to boot.

It only started to feel artificial when a fox had commented on how kind she was. Jem of course thought she was reasonably kind, but while she was working, it wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. Usually it was how stylish she was, or how talented her singing was. Or something that had to do with the job she was doing. Because while she was an idol, she went through great lengths to have some form of privacy and did not want others to form unhealthy attachments to her.

Something that was frequent in her line of work.

So the mention of how kind she was specifically sent her on a somewhat introspective spiral within herself. It was more about her maintaining that distance and even though she knew that she was just a normal Scarfox just trying to do normal Scarfox things, she did send a message out into the universe.

She didn’t really know where to start for it honestly. Was she just supposed to clasp her hands and pray? Was she supposed to go to the Hidden Garden and send a message in a bottle? If she recalled, she hadn’t sought out Poseidon - who went by Dipsi these days when he had originally spoken to her. She had been minding her own business. Maybe this just had to be more of the same.

So she packed up and went on a trip to the beach again, taking great care to let her general vibe out into the cosmos. She was incredibly appreciative of a god’s admiration of her kindness, but she was not trying to reap any rewards for it. She simply wanted to live and live she would do without issue.

Dipsi had to let her be a mortal Scarfox, just like she had to let him be a god. They each had their roles to play, and it was not fair for her to be given divine praise for just being herself. She had no idea if it worked, but would it have really mattered in the long run?

Things did seem normal after that again however.
