Day 8: Cat

It was a lovely weekend-- the sun was shining in the partially cloudy sky of a nice, cool fall day. Lilly most certainly didn't want to waste her time inside on a day such as today, so she decided to head on down to the local park just near her place of work. She was thinking of having a nice couple walking laps around the park before seeing if any of her friends might be around and, if not, she could still always get herself her own sweet or savory treat at one of the several food vending carts scattered about the park. She went about her leisurely walk, it only taking about half of her first lap to halt right in her tracks for quite a concerning site-- litter!! Or what she thought was litter from a distance. What she could see was a simple, open-top cardboard box right underneath a tree, but when she got closer... the sight made her open her eyes in surprise, despite the discomfort it caused her. There was a lone black kitten in the box-- old enough to be weaned from its mother, but certainly young enough to not make it on its own in any capacity in this location whatsoever. She was just thankful it wasn't too hot or too cold out! The kitten looked up at her and let out a little, pleading mew, after which Lilly was quick to gently scoop the little one up into her arms. The little lad didn't look too dehydrated and didn't sound too rough, so she hoped for the best as she quickly took the little kitten to the nearest vet to get them checked out. She could only wonder who would be so cruel as to abandon a kitten in such a way, but the important thing was that she was able to rescue them before anything too tragic happened to them. After a thorough check-up, some rehydrating, a feeding, and other such things, the kitten was cleared as being just fine and having been rescued before anything too tragic could happen. Lilly was greatly relieved to hear this, and after such a day and how cute the little kitten was... she was more than willing to go ahead and adopt the adorable little one.
